Lesson 1 Monday 22nd June 2020 LO: I am learning to recognise symbolism as a form of figurative language.
What does the word below mean? If you are not sure then search for the definition on the internet. Can you find a synonym? SYMBOLISM
Examples of symbolism The dove is a symbol of peace. A red rose, or the color red, stands for love or romance. A ladder may stand as a symbol for a connection between heaven and earth.
How can colours link to symbolism? What could yellow represent? A new day? Birth? Happiness? Can you think of any other types of symbolism we may experience everyday?

How is symbolism used in the clip? Think about these points and what they could represent.
Task - finish off this table with your own interpretation. There is no wrong answer. Symbolism Your interpretation The weather This could symbolise the sadness that Little Freak experience. Also, the weather is dark, gloomy and miserable, this could reflect how people felt working there. What else could you add?
