Virtual memory is a computer system technique that provides applications with the illusion of contiguous working memory, even if it is physically fragmented and may overflow onto disk storage. This technique is widely used in computer operating systems for various applications, except where hardware support is lacking. Memory is a crucial component used in a variety of devices, from computers and mobile phones to digital cameras and household appliances. The paging process involves translating logical addresses into physical addresses by mapping page numbers to frame numbers. This mapping process allows for efficient memory management and utilization in computer systems.

  2. What is International Mens Day? International Men s Day On November 19 International Men s Day celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. We highlight positive role models and raise awareness of men s well-being. One of the six pillars of International Men s Day is to improve gender relations and promote gender equality not only for men but for women too. In this light our theme for 2021 is Better relations between men and women. Key Vocabulary role models awareness Research gender relations Text source: https://internationalmensday.com/ Click on the link below and do some research: what are the other five pillars of International Men s Day? promote Do we need international Men s Day? Discussion points Why do we need to celebrate boys and men? Why/ Why not? https://internationalmensday. com/ Punctuation practice! What issues might we be shining a spotlight on that impact boys and men? Why does the writer use an apostrophe in the phrase Men s well-being ? Challenge! What s the point? Why does levelling- up contain a hyphen? International Men s Day is an opportunity to celebrate men and boys in all their diversity, and to shine a spotlight on the issues which affect men, from shared parenting to health and wellbeing. Stretch and challenge This Government is committed to levelling-up opportunity and ensuring fairness for all . What does it mean to shine a spotlight on an issue? 3. Unity! Key Vocabulary Because, of course, men and women do not exist separately and in isolation we are part of families, businesses, and part of our communities. Which is why our support is targeted at those most in need and looks at how issues are impacting individuals not homogenous groups, so that we ensure a fair recovery for everyone. homogenous pre-conceived social stereotypes Text source: https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/minister-for-equalities-delivers-international-mens-day-speech Discussion point Stretch and challenge empowered Can men express emotion without judgement? What does it mean to open up about our feelings? Should they be able to? Why/why not? Formal or Informal? Language features What kind of text is this and how do we know? Can you identify any language features in either of these paragraphs? Stereotypes.. Problems for men What do we expect a man to be? What should they do? I m sure I m not alone in saying this year has been hard for mental health. Our lives have changed in 2020. The pre-conceived responsibilities and social stereotypes that are attached to being a man, however? Yeah, those are still here. We may be allowing ourselves to open up more about our feelings, but I know even admitting what I just did above will still make me appear a weaker man to some friends and readers, despite me actually feeling empowered and relieved to have written it. Give examples for those that you spot. Discussion point.. Why is it important that we all feel empowered? Text source: https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/international-mens-day-mental-health-male-suicide-b1743299.html

  4. Punctuation practice! Male stereotypes Why has the writer used commas in the following sentence? Studies show that in fictional films through to reality television, men are still glamorised for appearing aggressive, physically stronger, or showing no emotion at all look no further than Love Island. Meanwhile authoritarian male leaders who embody these ideals are still elected and lauded across the world. These are all role models whose attitudes set examples for the rest of us. men are still glamorised for appearing aggressive, physically stronger, or showing no emotion at all . Discussion point Can you think of any examples of men that are celebrated for being aggressive, physically stronger or emotionless? Or male leaders that are appointed because of this? Discussion point What can we do to make sure men are more accurately represented? What needs to change? Language features Discussion point Key Vocabulary Which stereotypes that you spot in this video that might be forced onto men and boys? Can you identify any language features in the text? glamorised aggressive embody authoritarian Text source: https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/international-mens-day-mental-health-male-suicide-b1743299.html Video source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FC8R_StD8Dc

  5. Organisational features Punctuation practice! Why is GCSE written in capital letters? What organisational features are used in this image? Can you name three? Thinking outside the box... What could the question be if this was the answer? Why? Do we need international Men s Day? In your groups, pick one of the statistics and discuss why it might be so high? A picture containing text, person, indoor, person Description automatically generated Why/ Why not? In what ways are men disadvantaged for this to happen? Have you changed your mind? Watch the video What does it mean to normalise talking about feelings, in this case? And how can we do that? What suggestions do they make in the video? Are they treated unfairly? How? Add some of these reasons to your list.

  6. Toxic Masculinity. Key Vocabulary Toxic masculinity isn t just about behaving like a man. Instead, it involves the extreme pressure some men may feel to act in a way that is harmful. discrimination self-sufficiency Traits of toxic masculinity include themes of: mental and physical toughness aggression not displaying emotion heterosexism, or discrimination against people who aren t heterosexual self-sufficiency emotional insensitivity insensitivity Organisational features Can you identify any organisational features on this slide? What are they? Language features Discussion point Can you identify any language features in either of these paragraphs? Stretch and challenge What are the impacts of toxic masculinity on the individual and the wider world? Who is affected and how? Can you think of any synonyms for the words underlined on this slide Give examples for those that you spot. The toy divide Discussion point Many parents are tired of the pink and blue divide in the toy aisles. Just last month, the White House held a conference on gender stereotypes in toys and media, with many toy manufacturers and experts attending. After feedback, Target announced in 2015 that it would get rid of signs labelling toys for boys or for girls. Should toys be gendered? Why/why not? Can girls play with cars and boys play with dolls? Text source: https://www.healthline.com/health/toxic-masculinity#causes https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/may/28/toys-kids-girls-boys-childhood- development-gender-research
