  2. AD OF LIVE EVENTS Not just AV but multisensory. Skin sensation. Temperature. Direction of the action from voices or costumes rustling.

  3. LIVE EVENTS Visits to the stage and backstage to touch: Set design models. Costumes. Props.

  4. WHEN An hour before curtain up. Describer & Stage Manager agree on props. Wish list of props beforehand.

  5. VENUE RESPONSIBILITY Provide trained ushers. Greet PSL. Ensure their health and safety throughout.

  6. DESCRIBERS RESPONSIBILITY Host the event. Describe what s on stage. Invite cast and crew to introduce themselves. Invite AD users & companions to explore independently.

  7. DESCRIBERS RESPONSIBILITY Describe in more detail. Draw attention to any items overlooked. Prevent sighted companions from hogging attention or obstructing.

  8. HOW LONG? Usually 30 mins an hour. As long as the SM allows.

  9. NO STAGE AVAILABILITY Smaller tactile tour elsewhere.

  10. WISHLIST Unusual. Feature in the action.

  11. WISHLIST Items accessible to some PSL. E.g. paintings in The Pitmen Painters canvasses and projections.

  12. COLLABORATION The venue should provide extra ushers. You might need to brief ushers and cast. They ll need training in guiding and interacting with PSL.

  13. LIMITS Half the users on stage. Half in stalls with cast/costumes.

  14. COHERENCE Touch Tour works with AI and AD to bring the performance to life. Use the same terminology throughout. Opportunity to explain. Not everyone will attend the Touch Tour.

  15. SPOILER ALERT Don t give away all the surprises! Collaborate with cast and crew.

  16. TOTOS SHOULD BE ENJOYABLE! Of all the access provision for opera, PSL enjoyed the Touch Tour the most (Walker, 2014).
