  1. Utopian Society Jackson Buchanan, Mark Loeffler, and Blake Green

  2. Utopian society A utopian society means where every one and everything is the same. There is no war between the people and no one does any wrong doing. If you do some wrong doing you will be released and not to return. You are separated from the outside world.

  3. Shaker people of Pleasant Hill, KY Shakers of South Union, KY Basic guidelines: cant have sex before their married inside the community. Family guidelines: separated into groups called families, men did all the hard work. Marriage guidelines: cant marry outside the community. Education: boys-farm work, girls- sew, cook, clean ,and making goods.

  4. Continued Careers: farmers and traders. Religious beliefs: believe in god, and are charismatic Christians. Medical guidelines: believe god will heal them. Government guidelines: market and traditional economies.

  8. continued Education: children attend school 6 times a week till their 14. Careers: men/boys -work on farms while some are sent away to college to become teachers, girls-make clothing and help run the stores. Religious beliefs: Christians they believe that Christ will come back for them. Medical guidelines: held closely to the Lutheran church. (they believe god will heal them) Municipal government: market traditional economy

Historic Harmony, Harmony, PA and Old Economy Village, Ambridge, PA Basic rules and guidelines: Each person has a job, 4-6 people per family, they believe Jesus Christ will come to earth Family Guidelines: 4-6 members assigned to a home. They live as a family even though they aren t related. Wake at 5-6am, breakfast at 6-7am, lunch at 9am, afternoon lunch at 3pm, supper at 6-7pm. All citizens/family members have a curfew of 9pm. Marriage: If you live together and are married, you live together like brother and sister, since there is a suggestion and custom of practicing celibacy.

  10. Continued Education: The children were schooled even though Pennsylvania had yet to require formal education. Careers: Each member has a certain job. Men work in manual labor, while women work in textiles and agriculture. Religious Beliefs: No work on Sunday, as it is a Holy Day. They go to Church and singing groups. The Harmonites were Millennialists, in that they believed Jesus Christ was coming to earth in their lifetime to help usher in a thousand-year kingdom of peace on earth.

Continued Medical Guidelines: They believe Jesus Christ will come to earth and make everything peaceful and perfect, so no one would be hurt Municipal Government- Where it exists, a municipal government is the lowest level of government and exercises authority over a municipality (e.g city; town). Usually, the scope of a municipal government's powers are determined by its delegated authority from the level of government that creates it and the laws it passes are called ordinances.
