Publications and plot approvals for the IBL paper are in review stage, with updates requested for the author list. Various proceedings and notes are being prepared, including a 4-layer pixel paper proposal focusing on LS1 work and early beam results. Plans for mid-2015 include beam splashes validation and subsystem updates. Shifts and training sessions are ongoing for Run 2, building on the experiences from Run 1. The overall detector status highlights some recovered modules and ongoing tuning efforts.

  1. Selected slides from Heinz Pernegger Pixel IB slides S. Jezequel /LAPP H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 1

  2. Publications and plot approval IBL paper at review stage now (see session yesterday) You have received an email yesterday with requests for updates of the author list from your institute please respond until 31. Jan in case you have not answered last year already Link : https://cds.cern.ch/record/1977460? Many proceedings during last 2-3 months (Pixel 2014, Vertex 2014, PSD14, RESMDD14, ) More notes under preparation specifically also with first commissioning results before beam, timing of detector, IBL construction follow-up, FEI4 operations 4 Layer Pixel paper: proposal of yesterday is to have a clear (limited scope) paper which includes: Work executed during LS1 Commissioning results and Cosmic results Results of basic quantities describing the pixel 4-layer performance with early beam data until ~ May. Aim at not more than 50 pages and be reayd for submission by end of this year Will form editor team over the next week(s) and get started with detailed H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 2

  3. Plan to mid 2015 Beam Splashes Validation of all Subsystems Subsystems update TDAQ version M8 M9 to be defined/ moved new CTP commissioning and integration with all sub- systems New TDAQ release New SW release 20.1 First Collisions VdM + low + LHCf 3

  4. Shifts and Training We will run in Run 2 with common ID shifter similar to Run 1 M7 was a first test of shift operation (thanks to everybody who signed up for shifts!!) and made a first round of training Training: Material based on Run 1 with some adaptation Documentation will need more updates Next training periods: Jan 28-29 https://indico.cern.ch/event/359836/ Feb 25-26 https://indico.cern.ch/event/359831/ Central shifts: We will have standard central shifts for shift leader, run control, slimos, DQ Please sign up for those shifts as well! H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 4

  5. Since the last pixel week A very brief snapshot since the last Pixel IB in October Bake-out and follow-up tests of Pixel & IBL M6 and preparations for first common runs in ATLAS M7, combined data taking and results from cosmic data Calibration of Pixel and IBL Continuing work on DAQ, DCS, DQ, offline Inclusion of DBM First shifts and training in preparation for Run 2 H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 5

  6. Overall detector status Pixel: defect 33 of 1744 modules; 2 modules, which were off during run 1, actually recovered in module tuning Currently operate with Run1 tuning, need some time before M8 for new re-tuning IBL: Modules tested ok after bake-out (see Alessandro s talk) and in subsequent M7 runs During M7 1 chip failed during configuration (off since then, Stave 4 Side A M4 one 3D module - LI_S04_A7 chip2 Either due to broken LDO on chip or broken wire-bond investigation still ongoing) H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 6

  7. ATLAS M7 run First time all 4 pixel layers run in ATLAS H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 7

  8. M7 Summary Ran routinely with 14 IBL RODs Pixel and IBL hits on tracks with and without B Field Readout window reduced to 5 BC for Pixel and IBL Included many of the temporarily disabled Pixel modules: 38 modules out of data taking in M7 First IBL frontend out of data taking (LI_S06_A_M4: A7.2) Online monitoring starting to become operational now data quality flags need to be defined for shifter operation Run scans for offline calibration: PIX and IBL Common ID shifter for PIX/IBL, SCT, TRT, BCM H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 8

  9. Offline Geometry: Correction of a phi-position of the IBL. 2 mm shift in Z of the IBL. Clustering: Digital clustering used. We should use the analog one once we have charge calibration. Calibration: First processing did not have IBL calibration. Looking forward to have a complete new calibration from detector. Digitization: Use data/MC comparison to tune the 3D inductive model. Tracking: Used the newly developped DxAOD. Reconstruction worked well after error scaling. Alignment spotted the geometry shifts in phi and z, tighter alignment is awaited. 9

  10. Cosmic hit maps H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 10

  11. Lorentz Angle Cluster size vs incident angle : Lorentz angle of drifting charges in planar but not in 3D Layer- dependence and comparison to Run 1 still to be understood H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 11

  12. DCS, Cooling, Monitoring status and to-do DCS Migration of DCS system on-going Key focus is also PP2 DCS migration Installation for HV monitoring boards DSS action matrix for IBL Cooling Currently maintain CO2 plan and install safety by-pass, new heater Will do flow-tuning during next week on CO2 Monitoring A lot learned during M7 ! DQM Pixel Monitoring & GNAM running IBL error reporting to come References produced, To-do are summaries H. Pernegger Pixel IB, Jan 15, 2015 12
