Belonging to the Hip Hop culture Born in the 1970s in the Bronx ( a borough in NYC, USA) gathering youngsters with a disadvantaged backgrounds in times of social and economic crisis , after a decade of struggle for civic rights Youngsters willing to express themselves in a different and positive way, creating their own culture, expressing violent feelings in a constructive and creative way A special space (urban areas usually very poor) they have adopted and transformed in their artistic territory - street art for the scenery, rap for the music, breakdance with highly difficult figures Key leaders - the DJ for the show, Rappers for the battles , special clothes (under ground in a first place, mainstream in a second place...)

  6. Improvisation: 4 characteristics Improvisation: 4 characteristics PROJECT NUMBER: 2020-1-IT02-KA227-ADU-095146 2. Improvisation theater and its contribution to the cultural capital Culture is usually a social indicator as it is often elitist Reference is made to Pierre Bourdieu, a French sociologist, who initiated this approach of a special elite gathering all capitals- cash capital (money), social capital (relationship), human capital (diploma and education) and cultural capital (cultural references) The Hip Hop culture in general and Improvisation theater in particular are part of the education & culture for all, an inclusive approach as opposed to an exclusive approach of culture or education The so-called codes are not imposed from outside but come from inside , they are naturally adopted by youngsters themselves as they belong to this culture, they have created this culture and enriched it continuously in the past 40 years

  7. Improvisation: 4 characteristics Improvisation: 4 characteristics PROJECT NUMBER: 2020-1-IT02-KA227-ADU-095146 3. Improvisation theater as a show In the first place, it was created in Canada by teachers in theatre inspired by the Forum theater, based on creativity and inspiration ; actors could be amateur or professional In a second place, this show was so popular that is was broadcasted and so an amateur practice became a professional one (same process with sport on TV) The main characteristic of this specific show was to offer a high freedom, mixing many kinds of theatre (classical, modern ), with the only common point to be based on a master of language (words have to be convincing) The impression of amateur is just an attitude as this kind of theater requires a high capacity of concentration, a significant memory and a careful attention paid to others
