Undeniable Accountability We must take into account all that the Bible teaches There is also accountability that God has placed upon us that is undeniable We are accountable to and in some cases for others. Our actions can hold others culpable as well
For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idols temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.
Undeniable Accountability We must take into account all that the Bible teaches Adam & Eve s Accountability (Gen 3:9-19) Achan s accountability (Josh 7:1-26) Josh 6:18 and ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing
Generally they were at liberty to take the spoil of other cities that were captured
Undeniable Accountability Who Did God Accountable? God said Israel was accountable (Josh 7:1,11, 13, 15). 36 men died as result of Achan s sin (7:5) His family as well (7:21-26) Divine law expressly forbade the children to be put to death for their father s sins The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. (Deuteronomy 24.16 KJV) Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? and that man perished not alone in his iniquity. Undeniable Accountability Who Does God Hold Responsible? Those In A Local church The Apostle Paul spoke similarly to the Corinthians (1 Cor 5:1-11) We must love the Lord more than anything or anyone The Command is stated 17 times in Scripture 9 of which is stated in the Book of Deuteronomy. The other three are stated by Jesus in the Gospel accounts (Matt 22:37-38; Mk 12:30-31; Lk 10:27).

Undeniable Accountability Who Does God Hold Responsible? Eli & His Sons (1 Sam 1-4) Eli s sons Hophni & Phinehas, served as priest but were very wicked (1:3; 2:12-17, 22) The fat was to burned and offered as a sacrifice on the altar (Lev 3:3-5) They were engaged in sexual immorality right before the door of the tabernacle(1 Sam 2:22) Eli was aware of these gross transgression along with everyone else (1 Sam 22)

Eli & His Sons (1 Sam 1-4) He addressed the issue with them (1 Sam 2:23-25) God warns and pronounces judgment upon Eli and his sons (1 Sam 2:27-36 Cf 1 Kings 2:27,35) Eli was undeniably accountable for the actions of his sons because he did nothing about it

Undeniable Accountability Who Does God Hold Responsible? Ananias & Saphira (Acts 5:1-10) Wives are to submit to their husbands as unto the Lord (Eph 5:22-24) But not contrary to the Lord (1 Cor 7:13-15)
