  3. Getting ready The film is from BBC Teach: My Life My Religion Pupils: you will need a pen or pencil and some paper to record your answers. It is called The Holy Bible . The clip explains how Christians may use the Bible and why it is so important them. Click the link to the film from the BBC website, and then watch it carefully. Click this link and watch carefully: Religious Studies KS2: The Holy Bible - BBC Teach You may wish to cross-reference this free home learning resource from NATRE: F4 14-16 RE Today and NATRE home learning Bible, noting that this resource is designed for Key Stage 4 pupils Your teacher will tell you how they want you to share your work with them.

  4. TASKS for learning Through this work you will learn about the importance of the Bible to Christians, and think about how Christians use the Bible in their everyday lives.

  5. Task 1: Give Me 5! Watch the clip carefully. Write down 5 facts (as bullet points) about the Bible. Underline any of the facts you already knew and pick one fact that you find the most surprising or interesting 10 minute research challenge Spend 10 minutes researching facts about the Bible on the internet. How many correct new facts about the Bible can you find. 10 minute research challenge Why might some people say that the Bible is NOT a book? Answer: This is because the Bible is actually a collection of many different books.

  6. Task 2: Whats so special about the Bible? Here are some words suggesting reasons why Christians may feel that the Bible is special. Write a sentence or two, explaining each point in more detail. Word of God Salvation Can you think of any other reasons why the Bible is so important to Christians? Guidance Help with decisions Jesus

  7. Task 3: How do Christians use the Bible? How might the Bible hep in the following situations. Write down your ideas. At church, worshipping with other Christians Praying Feeling sad or angry Wanting to learn about Christian ways of life Deciding whether something is right or wrong Extend your learning The Bible is not just in book form nowadays. Research to see what different forms the Bible is now available in. Can you find three or more? Which do you like the best?

  8. Task 4: Express your opinions Some people say that the Bible is out of date it is no longer useful in today s world. Why might someone agree that this is true? Explain two or three reasons. Why might someone disagree? Explain two or three reasons. Now that you ve thought about this, what do you think? Explain why you agree, disagree or can t come to a conclusion.
