Understanding Plantar Fasciitis: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment Plantar Fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. It involves inflammation of a thick band of tissue called the plantar fascia, which runs across the bottom of your foot and connects the heel bone to your toes. This condition is often seen in athletes, people with long-standing work routines, or individuals with improper footwear.
Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis If you re experiencing the following signs, you might be suffering from plantar fasciitis: Severe Pain in the Heel: Sharp and intense pain in the heel, especially while walking or standing. Pain After Rest: After resting or sitting for a long time, pain resurfaces when you get up and start walking. Prolonged Walking Pain: Walking or standing for long periods can worsen the pain. Stiffness in the Heel: The affected area may feel stiff, especially early in the morning. Tendon Tenderness: Tenderness or discomfort along the bottom of your foot. Burning Sensation: A burning or tingling feeling in the heel or arch of the foot.
Who is at Risk? Plantar fasciitis can occur for several reasons. Here are some common causes or contributing factors: Excessive Physical Activity: Long-distance running, jumping, or rigorous walking. Improper Footwear: Wearing shoes that don t provide proper arch support. Obesity: Excess body weight puts additional pressure on the foot arch. Age: It is more common between the ages of 40 60. Foot Mechanics: Flat feet, high arches, or an abnormal walking pattern. Diagnosis and Treatment If you suspect plantar fasciitis, consult anorthopedic specialist.
