THEME It teaches us that if man has child-like faith in God, he can accomplish anything considered impossible. Extreme faith in the almighty can give you a ray of hope even in the darkest times. The immense power in man's innocent faith in God.

MAIN POINTS He needed a downpour to make his harvest good. But the rain turned into hailstones which destroyed his whole crop of corn. He had nothing to eat so he decided to seek help from god. He wrote a letter to god demanding 100 pesos. The post office employees made fun of him. But the post master decided to help him. Lencho was a farmer and had a field of ripe corn. He also requested to send the money through another means because what he believed that post office employees were bunch of crooks He wrote another letter to god demanding rest of the money. But Lencho was angry to receive 70 pesos in place of 100. He collected 70 pesos from his own effort.

THEME Mrs. Pumphrey pampering her pet dog, Tricki. In her affection and love for her pet, she gave her sweet food, Horlicks, cream cakes, chocolates, etc. . As expected, Tricki fell ill; the narrator, since he was a qualified vet, took the sick dog to his clinic. This sweet and fatty food made Tricki enormously fat He kept it on normal diet, made it drink lots of water; it played with other dogs; and after a fortnight it became healthy again. When Mrs. Pumphrey got Tricki back she was so happy. She thought the narrator had one some surgery on it. in gratitude she said, This is a triumph of surgery.

MAIN POINTS She gave him some little extras between meals to build him up, malt, cod-liver oil and a bowl of Horlicks at night. Tricki was a small dog and was excessively loved by his mistress, Mrs. Pumphery. He was greedy & loved food, but no exercise. As a result he became fat She gave him lot to eat but no exercise. He expected call came within a few days & it happened. He was called by Mrs. Pumphery as Tricki refused to eat. James already had given suggestions regarding Tricki s balanced diet. But she never followed it. Once he became ill & she was worried & made a frantic call to Harriot who was a vet. He was shocked to see Tricki hugely fat, like a bloated sausage with a leg at each corner. There he gave him no food no medicine but plenty of water. Gradually he mixed with other dogs & started playing with them. He was completely recovered & transformed into a hard muscled dog. He had a lot of exercises & fun at the surgery. James Harriot treated the dog without medicine or surgery. She was happy & filled with gratitude.
