Define of terms Health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Wellness: has been defined as being equivalent to health. Illness is the inability of an individual s to maintain physical and emotional balance that subsequently results in an impairment of functional abilities.
Health care: Systematic activities to prevent or cure health problems and promote good health in humans are undertaken by health care providers. Hospital: is a health care institution providing patient treatment by specialized staff and equipment.
Nurse: A person who is trained to care for sick or injured people and who usually works in a hospital. Patient: is a person who is waiting for or undergoing medical treatment and care. Client: is a person who engages the advice or services of another who is qualified to provide this service.
Health Health is a global term because it refers to every aspect of a person s life, which including: Physical status Emotional well-being Social relationships Intellectual functioning Spiritual condition
Providing Quality Care: Healthcare: is a providing the care to Quality In the patient needs when they are need it, in an affordable, safe, effective manner.
Nursing practice involves four areas: 1. Promoting health and wellness. 2. Preventing illness. 3. Restoring health. 4. Caring for the dying.
Self-care: is the ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and to cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider.
Personal hygiene: is the self-care by which people attend to such functions as bathing, toileting, general body hygiene, and grooming.
Factors Influencing Individual Hygienic Practices: 1. Culture. 2. Religion. 3. Environment. 4. Finances. 5. Developmental level. 6. Health and energy.
Roles And Functions Of The Nurse: 1- Caregiver. 2- Communicator. 3- Teacher. 4- Client Advocate. 5- Counselor. 6- Change Agent. 7- Leader. 8- Manager. 9- Case Manager. 10- Researcher.
