ANNUAL MEETING Each campus served under Title I is required to hold an annual information meeting for parents. We thank you for attending ours.

All Dickinson ISD campuses receive federal funds under the statute, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title I, Part A. Bay Colony ES San Leon ES Calder Road ES Dickinson HS McAdams JH Kranz JH Dunbar Middle Lobit Middle Barber MS KE Little ES Lobit ES Silbernagel ES Hughes Road ES In order to qualify as a Title I Schoolwide campus, there must be at least 40% of the campus student population receiving free/reduced lunch.
PURPOSE The Title I, Part A supplemental funds provide enhanced opportunities for the children at these schools to gain the knowledge and skills taught at their grade level and to meet the rigorous state performance standards. The funds are also used to provide information, training and materials for parents to encourage active, effective participation in the teaching of their children.
ESSA Parent Involvement Definition, Intent and Purpose
Parent involvement means Participation of parents in: Regular, two-way, meaningful communication Student academic learning Other school activities including volunteering, providing input in school decision making and being an advocate for your child
INTENT & PURPOSE Parents assisting with their child s learning Parents being actively involved with their child s learning Parents being full partners in education At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child s success is the positive involvement of parents. Jane D. Hull
How Can I Be Involved? Attend parent-teacher meetings; Join one of the campus decision making committees; Take part in reviewing/revising the Parent & Family Engagement Policy and/or School-Parent Compact; Complete the Parent & Family Engagement Survey; Assist your child s teacher in the classroom or on field trips when you are able; Talk with your child about what they re learning. 100 Ways for Parents to Be Involved in Their Child's Education
TITLE I BENEFITS PARENTS & CHILDREN Supports learning for all children on Title I school-wide campuses Provides parents information about their child s progress Alerts parents to the performance of their child s school Gives children and parents a strong connection to their school Informs parents of teacher & paraprofessional quality Provides supplemental resources to schools Allows parents to request additional meetings at convenient times Ensures that programs and materials are research based the focus is on what works.
