And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself (Romans 8:25 27)

  3. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? Prayer demands faithfulness (Jn 9:24-25, 30-33) (Prov 28:1-10 [*9]) (1 Pet 3:10-12 Cf Psa 34:12-16)

  4. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? When Do We Pray? Paul instructs the Thessalonians to pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17) We must have Spiritual Persistentor A sprit of prayer (Rom 12:12) Continuing instant in prayer (Lk 18:1) men ought to always pray and faint not Daniel was accustomed to praying 3 times a day (Dan 6:10) Peter had scheduled prayer (Acts 10:9 Cf in a closet Matt 6:5-6). David prayed 7 times in a day (Psa 119:164)

  5. At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments. (Psalms 119:62) When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. (Psalms 63:6)...

  6. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? Why Do We Pray? 1 Thess 5:17 address times and frequency. However, vs 18 addresses our circumstances or situations. God wants us to possess and maintain our thankfulness at all times and for all things

  7. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; (Ephesians 5:20) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. 8. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Bible authority must be at the forefront of our question. Our approach to our subject and this question must be studied and systematic. There is no instruction within Scripture that says just pray Bible authority is ascertained by either, Explicit statement, authorized or approved example, or authorized conclusion (necessary inference)

  9. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. God s commands are applied (Matt 18:15-17).. individually- a single human being as distinct from a group, class, or family... distributively- (of a determiner or pronoun) referring to each individual of a class, not to the class collectively, e.g., each, either collectively-belonging or relating to all the members of a group:taken as a whole

  10. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. What does the Bible reveal to us about Christian prayer and prayers Jesus taught His disciples to pray (Matt 6:9-15; Lk 11:1-4) His disciples prayed according to that instruction

  11. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Forgivness

  12. Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. Acts 7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. 1John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 2Tim. 4:16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 2Cor. 2:7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. 8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. 9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. 10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Col. 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

  13. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. God s Will

  14. 1Tim. 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Luke 22:41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44 And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. 45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. 2Th. 1:11 Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: 12 That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2Cor. 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. 2Cor. 13:7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

  15. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Deliverance

  16. John 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. Acts 12:12 And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. 2Cor. 1:8 For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, a 2Cor. 1:12 For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, Rom. 15:30Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with m

  17. For though I would desire to glory, I shall not be a fool; for I will say the truth: but

  18. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. The Word Of God

  19. 2Th. 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. Col. 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; 3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. 1Cor. 14:13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. Acts 4:27-31 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, 28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. 29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, 30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. 31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

  20. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Wisdom

  21. Eph. 1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, 16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Col. 1:8-9 Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

  22. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Unity

  23. John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me. Rom. 15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: 6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom. 15:7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

  24. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Salvation of Others Rom. 10:1Brethren, my heart s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. 2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

  25. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Selection of Others

  26. Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren. Acts 1:24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. Acts 6:6 Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. Acts 13:3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. Acts 14:23 And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

  27. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Sick Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 1:2) *Epaphroditus (Phil 2:25-30) Unknown Specifics And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all. (Acts 20:36) And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed. (Acts 21:5)

  28. WHAT DO WE PRAY FOR? What Do We Pray For?.. Justice Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words. (2 Timothy 4:14 15) (Rev 8:1-6)
