  2. Block organization The writer will group all the similarities and all differences in one block. On the previous assignment, the similarities between Jim s and Evelyn s story are 1. They have birthday 2. They celebrate it with their friend 3. They get the birthday gift. For differences 1. Jim celebrated his birthday by going to horseback trail ride 2) Evelyn celebrated her birthday by playing games

  3. Point-by-point-organization You write about similarities and differences by subtopics. For our previous assignment, the subtopics that we can construct are 1. The way they celebrate their birthday 2. The birthday gift 3. The birthday gift givers

  4. Example The first January is the important day for both Jim and Evelyn because that day is their birthday (Topic sentence). Block Organization 1. Similar to Jim, Evelyn always celebrates her birthday with friends. 2. Evelyn just invited her best friends. She prefers intimate event. This year, there were six guest, but Jim loves to invite as many as friends.

  5. Point-by-point-organization 1. This year both of Evelyn and Jim celebrated with their friends, although they celebrated their birthday differently. Jim did out door activity with riding horse while Evelyn played games at home.
