Techera, a cluster project in the Adriatic Sea, aims to promote emerging technologies in the blue economy sector by capitalizing on previous projects like SUSHIDROP and PRIZEFISH. With a focus on data-driven solutions and innovation, Techera aims to enhance competitiveness and sustainability in the blue economy through smart specialization and advanced technologies. Specific objectives include intersectoral clusters for data sharing and the development of new technologies to support sustainable management of sea resources. The project targets the transferability of innovations within the Program Area and beyond.

  1. A new technology era in the Adriatic Sea Big data sharing and analytics for a circular sea economy Techera|Marche Agriculture Fisheries | Cristina Frittelloni TNE Ariel Plus Project | Split | 25 August 2022

  2. TECHERA Project TECHERA is a cluster that capitalizes products of previous projects SUSHIDROP, PRIZEFISH, ADRIREEF, ITACA, BLUE KEP and FAIRSEA funded in the framework of the Italy- Croatia 2014-2020 Interreg Cooperation programme A cluster project CLUSTER n. 1: Connectivity from the sea: data driven solutions in the sea economy 2

  3. TECHERA OVERVIEW The Consortium 3

  4. Project Aim Infosphere Promote the adoption of emerging technologies in the blue economy sector (several Platforms/WebApp s developed by the projects and technologies tested) Interconnect and integrate previous projects results Target the transferability in the Programme Area and beyond and identify key innovations to improve competitiveness in blue economy Hydrosphere 4

  5. Project Specific Objectives Specific Objective 1: Intersectoral clusters for data sharing Capitalization of outputs of the projects that develop databases and repositories which can help the data-driven management of sea resources, such as: -The FAIRSEA integrated platform, a webGIS database integrating biological/ecological processes and fisheries bio-economic dynamics. This high technological and innovative platform was used as a planning tool to test applicable fisheries policies. -The SUSHI DROP webGIS for seabed and biodiversity mapping set up using data collected by the underwater drone Blucy developed within the project -The 3Dseabed models and the virtual reality tools developed in ADRIREEF (innovative exploitation of Adriatic reefs) Aim: tosupport national and international institutions in maritime spatial planning and in the sustainable management of sea resources 5

  6. Specific Objective 2: Smart specialization and advanced technologies Capitalization of outputs of projects that develop new technologies which may boost the competitiveness and sustainability of the blue economy, such as: - The advanced fishery technologies, the new seafood products (e.g. innovative fishing gears, products with improved shelf-life using HPP, MAP) and the APP for the B2C market investigated in PRIZEFISH - The innovative webAPP for the small pelagic fisheries developed by ITACA able to predict the most probable selling price for anchovies and sardines, based on maked data and bio-econometric models - The Ecological indicators for fisheries impacts to support management and certification of fisheries product developed in PRIZEFISH (eco-certification scheme) 6

  7. Specific Objective 3: Attractive and Innovative careers in Blue Economy Capitalization of outputs of projects that introduce students to the advancements in sustainable fishing, food chains and blue technologies, such as: - Exchange/mobility Programme and shared Education System promoted by BLUE KEP (cross-border guidelines for exchange programme, common scheme for the recognition of skills and knowledge acquired by the students, common curricula to be adopted by the schools) - The gaming approaches proposed and developed by FAIRSEA (e.g. Fish N' Ships, the card game developed within the project https://fishnships.it/) Aim: promoting careers and sustainable entrepreneurship in the blue economy and contribute to address skills gaps and foster employability in the sector (especially young people). 7

  8. Main Project Activities 1st set - Exchange and exploitation of projects' results Activities to map the most significant outputs produced by cluster s previous projects developing an inventory which is the basis to outline guidelines on data sharing, providing technical solutions to feed databases with new data to make the systems interoperating. Guidelines are further elaborated in an Exploitation plan, a decision support roadmap for policymakers to put emphasis on the results that could be transferred. 2nd set Contribution to the next programming period Activities to provide recommendations for the next programming period 21-27 in the most relevant issues related to the sea economy sectors (such as fisheries, aquaculture, tourism, conservation). Identification of essential themes and strategies to address common challenges and identify field of interventions also considering Adrion Thematic Cluster on Blue growth and S3 strategies (Stakeholder Workshop for knowledge co-production probably held within SEALOGY, Guidelines to promote Blue Careers, Flagship paper on data-driven solutions for sea-economy, Project ideas for the next programming period to improve efficiency and sustainability of blue economy sectors) 8

  9. Main Project Activities 3rd set - Awareness raising and engagement Combined or harmonized project results are presented to a wider audience including stakeholders from the fishery sector, students, policy makers, SMEs, etc.. Activities includes: - Virtual study visit of the Adriatic sea showcasing the digital technologies developed by e.g. ADRIREEF (Interactive VR tool with 3D images and reconstructions of the Paguro wreck), SUSHIDROP (Live broadcasting of data acquisition with drones); - Thematic seminar with primary and high schools students on the innovation in blue sectors to identify ways for strengthening the careers in the fishery and blue sectors but also to develop possibilities for future education/mobility programmes - Live demonstration for policy makers on data-driven solutions in the fisheries sector and conservation 9

  10. PROJECT Workflow Final events Inventory Demonstration KICK OFF M14 D3.1.2 Exploitation plan (final) D3.3.3 Live demonstration D2.1.1 KOM D2.1.2 High Level Sectoral event D3.1.1 Inventory of results D3.3.1 Study visit D3.2.4 Project ideas D3.2.1 Stakeholder Workshop (Sealogy 18/11/2022) Exploitation plan 10

  11. Techera Cluster Approach Favors a bidirectional exchange of ideas among project participants and stakeholders. This will allow a better understanding of the dynamics of the Smart Blue- Growth in the Adriatic Ionian region, possibly anticipating transformative technological trends, for current interventions and future programming. Techera Connections is in line to the SO 1.1 and 1.4 of the Interreg Italy-Croatia CBC Programme 21-27 Priority 1 - Sustainable Growth in the Blue Economy Specific objective 1.1. Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies Specific objective 1.4 - Developing skills for smart specialization, industrial transition and entrepreneurship 11

  12. Techera Connections contributes to the EUSAIR strategy Pillar 1-Blue Growth (Flagship - Fostering quadruple helix ties in the fields of marine technologies and blue bio-technologies for advancing innovation, business development and business adaptation in blue bio-economy) be connected with the Interreg ADRION Programme's Thematic Cluster on Blue Growth and Related Smart Growth (relevance of sharing ideas and foster synergies with Ariel Plus IBE and participatory process results!!) 12
