Overview Advance Electronic Data (AED) is a set of information with details about every single item containing goods, which enable a swift customs clearance. An increasing number of countries require AED for inbound international shipments containing goods. Providing correct data in the correct format is required to guarantee the data can be used for customs & delivery. As additional benefit, destination operators will gradually use the data to enhance the delivery process to the adressee (eg phone/SMS/ email notifications). Increasing importance Several countries are tightening the requirements, such as: USA: reserves the right to refuse items without electronic data China and Russia: prioritize items accompanied by data; items without data may incur delays Brazil: charging a fee to the addressee for manual processing UK : following BREXIT, AED is required for shipments to UK also from EU We are committed to working with you to get ready for Advance Electronic Data requirements. Scope Advance Electronic Data (AED) is an industry-wide requirement in e-commerce You are required to provide Advance Electronic Data for all your shipments containing goods MiniPak Scan/Dragon Scan, MiniPak Sign MaxiPak Scan, MaxiPak Sign MiniPak TT (semi-tracked) MiniPak (untracked) MiniPak EU (untracked) M-Bags containing books MOVE YOUR PARCELS TO THE FASTLANE October 2021 revision 6
AED Requirements (1/3) Data required Reasoning Basic info (Mandatory) Sender and Addressee (Name, address including origin and destinationcountry) This group of information allows faster processing, increased quality of delivery and better returns quality (as applicable). Customs info (Mandatory) Trade Tariff (Harmonized System or HS) code and country of origin contents This code classifies your goods. Receiving countries use it together with the country of origin of contents to decide: a) whether to permit entry, and, b) percentage of duties and taxes. Note: If HS Code is not included or incorrect, your item could be stopped, delayed or refused entry in customs. of Customs info (specific cases) IOSS VAT Identification Number consists of 12 alphanumeric characters : IMxxxyyyyyyz where: 'IM' refer to 'import ; 'xxx' is the 3-digit ISO numeric code of the Member Identification; 'yyyyyy' is the assigned by the Member State of Identification; 'z' is a check digit. AED Requirements (2/3) Data Required Reasoning Customs info Required for security, processing and customs clearance purposes by the receiving country. Incorrect or incomplete data will lead to: Item details: description quantity weight value ofcontents Incorrect customs fees meaning your items could be charged tax at a higherrate. Delays and denied entry - if customs believe they could have been mis-declared or that there could be undeclared prohibited goods. Application of additional penalty processingcosts Postage paid and insurance costs The S10 barcode item identifier, e.g. RG005471046BE, is used to reference the customs data for receiving postal authorities. If the S10 barcode is not provided, items could be charged, delayed or denied entry, as if you had not provided any customsinformation Note: For untracked items, customers are required to provide an S10 barcode format UX XXX XXX XXX BE. AED Requirements (3/3) Data Required Reasoning Additional product features Needed for receiving posts and customs authorities, allowing them to contact the adressee if an item is held in customs or undeliverable due to addressing problems. Recipient telephone number and email Also, this information will enable provision of enhancements, such as automatic SMS or email notifications and delivery choices for the addressee, as more posts implement this type of solution. What is S10? S10 is a standardized unique postal item identifier recognized worldwide. S10 identifiers have four components with fixed length of 13 characters. - - - - 2 characters Service indicator 8 numbers Serial numbers 1 number Check Digit 2 characters Origin country code (ISO 3166 2-character) S10 item identifier should not be repeated for 13 months. Advance Electronic Data (AED) information for untracked and semi-tracked items containing goods will need to be provided by: - Entering data on Landmark Global systems, - Transfer data via API, ftp.
