SCOE Guiding Principles As a learning community, SCOE is committed to the following guiding principles. Chief Administrative Team (CAT) CAT PURPOSE STATEMENT: CAT PURPOSE STATEMENT: Leaders within SCOE are charged with two primary responsibilities, which are: O Developing, implementing, and keeping focus on our primary purpose and mission (what we do) O Developing, enhancing, and improving the culture of our organization (how we do what we do) There are multiple purposes to CAT in support of the organization. These purposes include: O Leadership development O Looking out for SCOE s culture O Sharing information between departments O Identifying threats and opportunities O Enculturation of new leaders O Relationship building in support of our mission O Prevention and proactively responding to challenges O Maintain organizational focus in order to stay mission focused 5 Cabinet Members 10 Directors O O
Management Advisory Council (MAC) Purpose Statement Purpose Statement MAC members are charged with two primary responsibilities: MAC members are charged with two primary responsibilities: To develop, implement, and keep focused on our primary purpose and mission To develop, enhance, and improve the culture of our organization O O By attending MAC meetings, we are better prepared to carry out these two primary responsibilities through: By attending MAC meetings, we are better prepared to carry out these two primary responsibilities through: Leadership development Collaboration and team building Identifying challenges and opportunities Identifying solutions and implementing changes Being knowledgeable by department sharing and SCOE and district updates O O O O O MAC: MAC: 5 Cabinet Members 10 Directors 35 Managers - certificated and classified O O O

Impact seen to date Managers state that they feel invested in the organization and valued Managers are spreading the word, meaning, and use of guiding principles at their staff meetings Using an external facilitator is a plus all levels of management participated equally Building capacity throughout SCOE to grow our own leaders and managers
Next Steps Continue professional development activities so as not to lose momentum with current cohorts Develop professional development opportunities for new management hires Support opportunities to empower all employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to build and continue to improve the SCOE culture
