LITERATURE
Miss A
What is Setting?
setting
(or backdrop) is the time and
geographic location within a
narrative, either nonfiction or fiction. It
is a literary element.
The
setting
 initiates the main backdrop
and mood for a story.
Setting also includes element like
weather and specific places.
How to Identify Setting
Step One:
Start by looking for the obvious; see if
the narrator tells you where they are or
what time it is.
Ex. Harry Potter tells you he goes to
Diagon Alley when he goes shopping
for school supplies.
Step Two:
Look for sensory details that help
support setting; What does the narrator
see, hear, smell, touch, and taste that
can help you discover where/when
they are?
