COACH LICENCE SCHEME Aims To raise the operating standards of coaches in Scotland To increase the prestige associated with being a licensed SVA coach To ensure minimum operational standards in coaching are being applied across the range of performance Levels in Scotland To encourage Licensed coaches to take responsibility for their on going CPD
REQUIREMENTS OF THE LICENCED COACH The candidate must have a PVG. The candidate must agree to abide by the SVA code of conduct for Coaches. The candidate must hold a valid coaching qualification for the level of competition where they are working. The candidate must complete the SVA coach Licences procedures. All coaches working with children or vulnerable adults must have a valid Safeguarding and protecting children and vulnerable adults certificate. The candidate should have a current First aid certificate or access to first aid.
STRUCTURE OF THE LICENCE SCHEME The candidate must complete a registration form The licence will be renewed every X years Candidates will be required to undertake at least X number of hours CPD. These can be made up of clinics in Scotland, UK or Europe. Attending National team sessions can count towards CPD points
LICENCE SCHEME BENEFITS It will provide proof of the licences holders qualification level. It will enable holders to act in a coaching role in SVL, Flying scots and NT programmes. It will ensure clear line of communication with the NGB. It will provide access to CPD and coach education grants from the SVA. It will help to drive up standards through the required CPD programme. It will provide access to the Coach of the year award scheme. It commits the holder to the SVA code of conduct. It enables the holder to represent themselves to others as a licenced SVA coach.
