  1. WALT: READ AND COMPREHEND A TEXT. WILF: I CAN ANSWER LITERAL QUESTION ABOUT A TEXT I CAN ANSWER QUESTION THAT INFERENCE ABOUT A TEXT

  2. TYPES OF QUESTIONS Literal questions- Literal questions have responses that are directly stated in the text. For example you may get a question asking what are the characters names? Inference questions- inferential questions have responses that are indirectly stated, induced, or require other information. For example in a text it might tell you that the character was shivering and a question might be how was the character feeling? So you would infer that the character is cold. Evaluative questions require the reader to formulate a response based on their opinion. For example you may get question asking do you think that that the character s actions were right.

  3. READ THE TEXT Read the text The Carvan by Pie Corbett. That has been attached for you by PDF. If you don t understand the text read it more than once. You must read the WHOLE text. The text is about two boys who are warned not to go and play by this old abandoned caravan because there is a pylon near it that could be dangerous. However they choose not to listen

  4. TASK- YOUR TASK IS TO ANSWER ALL 10 QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TEXT IN FULL SENTENCES 1. What are the names of the two boys in the story? 2. Why does his mum warn him not to play near the pylon? 3. Where is the pylon found? And how is it described? 4. Using evidence from the text how do we know that the caravan was abandoned? 5. Find and copy a simile in the text. Next slide has the next 5 questions

  5. NEXT 5 QUESTIONS 6. Find and copy an example of personification from the text. 7. What is dilemma (problem) in the story what happens to the caravan 8. How do you think the boys felt when the lightning struck and how do you know? 9. Why at the end of the story is Connor laughing? 10 Do you think they boys were right to go playing near the pylon? Explain your answer.
