Proper Mechanical Seal Installation for Pump Maintenance
Installing mechanical seals correctly is crucial for prolonging pump life and increasing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF). This process involves preparing the pump, maintaining perpendicularity, checking alignment tolerances, and ensuring proper surface finishes. Tips are provided on achieving accurate shaft runout, bearing fits, and bore tolerances for optimal performance.

Seal Installation Basics Sealing Systems Course 2
Seal Installation Proper installation of any mechanical seal is an essential requirement of any program designed to increase pump MTBF. Preparing pumps for seal installation and subsequently extending seal life is a necessary task that is often taken for granted. The pump manual should not be overlooked as a source of information, the solution to most equipment problems can be found in the maintenance and operating instructions of the pump manufactures manual.
