Sorghum, Bajra, Finger Millets, and Minor Millets like Foxtail Millet, Proso Millet, Kodo Millet, Barnyard Millet, and Little Millet are considered Nutri-Cereals in India. These cereals play a vital role in the food basket, with Sorghum being the fourth most important food grain in the country. The government has launched initiatives like the Sub-Mission on Nutri-Cereals to enhance production, demand, research, and market linkages, focusing on sustainable development and productivity. The National Year of Millets in 2018 aims to promote millet consumption through various activities like trainings, awareness campaigns, and value chain integration.
