E-TCT tests were conducted on samples from batch VP37411 irradiated with 24 GeV protons in IRRAD I, Mandi. The tests involved measurements with the laser beam along the strip direction, revealing differences in charge collection between left and right sides. Various images and profiles illustrate the effects of irradiation with protons, highlighting differences in Neff and charge collection. The results suggest non-uniform irradiation and provide insights for further analysis.

  1. Very preliminary! E-TCT test with QA mini from batch VP37411 irradiated with 24 GeV protons in IRRAD I. Mandi , Strip Sensor Meeting, 15 Dec 2021 because of dimensions and cutting of the sample E-TCT was measured with laser along the strip different weighting field than in standard configuration with laser perpendicular to the strip direction two locations tested left right Laser Scan under the strip form top to back side 1

  2. E-TCT with beam parallel to strips done before I. Mandi et al. Edge-TCT measurements with the laser beam directed parallel to the strips, 2015 JINST 10 P08004 https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-0221/10/08/P08004 25th RD50 workshop, November 2014, https://indico.cern.ch/event/334251/contributions/780759/attachments/652594/897347/Mandic_RD50_nov2014.pdf A12, 2e15, 500 V A12, 1e15, 500 V Differences between standard and parallel larger towards back side of detector 2

  3. E-TCT with QA sample VPX37411-W513, 1.6e15, PS protons edge not polished E-TCT scan not smooth rough regions Laser light scatters smooth surface Photo of the edge Top side y = 0 300 m Back side y = 300 Some difference between left and right part of sensor Could mean that irradiation not perfectly uniform 3

  4. Sensor edge VPX37412 (irradiated with neutrons) VPX37411 (irradiated with protons ) ~320 m ~320 m Similar structure on both edges 4

  5. Charge collection light intensity controlled (beam splitter and diode) collected charge measured using E-TCT on two sensors can be compared at same 1 MeV eq. fluence larger charge expected after proton irradiation leakage current 2x higher in p-irradiated sensor Measurements consistent with proton fluence higher than target 1.6e15 similar charge collection with both sensors Integral of charge profile vs. bias voltage Charge collection profile: 5

  6. almost symmetric double peak profile at 1.8e15 negative Neff at the strip side, positive Neff at the back side (see G. Kramberger et al., 2014 JINST 9 P10016 for more detail) very similar profile seen with A07 sensor after irradiation with pions at PSI different than neutrons A07, Pions, eq = 1.6e15 G. Kramberger et al., 2014 JINST 9 P10016 A07, neutrons: I. Mandi , Jo ef Stefan Institute, 21.10.2015

  7. at very high fluences differences between protons and neutrons get smaller A07, neutrons, from: G. Kramberger et al., 2014 JINST 9 P10016 I. Mandi , Jo ef Stefan Institute, 21.10.2015
