Activity 3d: Phishing survival guide Practitioner notes
Learning outcomes Children are able to identify what phishing is. Children can identify the characteristics of phishing. Children can summarise what they have learnt in the previous activities. Following lesson notes includes resources about what to do if you ve already responded to a phishing attack in some way.
Lesson notes Think you have received a suspicious email? If you think you have received a suspicious email, forward it to the Suspicious Email Reporting Service (SERS) using report@phishing.gov.uk Think you have clicked on a suspicious link? It is particularly important to have antivirus software installed on your computer as a way of protecting yourself. If you think you might have clicked on a suspicious link in an email, open your antivirus software and run a full scan. Think you have been tricked into giving out your password? If you think you have been tricked into giving out your password, change your password on all your other accounts. Lost money because of phishing? If you have lost money, report it as a crime to Action Fraud www.actionfraud.police.uk Been tricked into giving out your banking details? If you have been tricked into providing your banking details, contact your bank and let them know.
Game instructions: Phishing Survival Guide We need to educate parents, children and the public. One way of doing this is by creating a survival guide that they could keep by their computer or in their pockets. Using the information on the document as a guide, create an engaging pocket guide for your parents. The inside of the guide would be stuck together with the first page stuck to the back of the inside front cover. The third page is stuck to the back of the how to spot a phishing email. The last folded section when the Lost money because of a phishing scam which would be stuck to the back page (the one joined to the front cover) to create a booklet.
