  3. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Staffing of the school library Park Mains High School The School Library Service in Park Mains High School is currently provided by a qualified librarian. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: Mr K. Naismith, BD: Honours, MSc in Information and Library Studies.

  4. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Where are we? The library is located above the central area, on the corridor between English and Modern Languages. Park Mains High School When the school is working normally, we have seven PC's and seating for up to 50 people. This is where you would come with your English class during your Library period to sit, read and have time to change your book. Also during morning interval and at lunch. But with the Covid-19 operation of the school, things are different.

  5. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community What we do. Each pupil is issued a School Library Number (if they don t already have a Public Library card), and you will be given a library card with that number. This will keep a record of books you have borrowed and returned. The computer system to do this is the same as the one used by the Public Libraries. So you can use your library number to borrow books from the School or Public libraries. Park Mains High School In the school we have a range of Fiction and Non- Fiction books to borrow for class reading or at home. We will help you find books of interest and to assist in your class work, not only in English.

  6. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Covid-19 operation. Park Mains High School During this time of doing thing differently due to Covid- 19, the library is not open for pupils to come and look through the shelves to find a book that interests you or for sitting in during morning interval and lunch. But there are other ways of borrowing books. When a Librarian returns to school, you will be able to request books online or by using a paper form. This will be placed in a dedicated box in the library or collected during your library period, and as with all things paper, put to one side for three days.

  7. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Covid-19 operation. Park Mains High School After that, the librarian will work on your request and get the book ready for you collect if it is in stock. If you want to see what is in stock, you can log into your account on the School Library web page at https://libcat.renfrewshire.gov.uk/iguana/www.main.cls ?surl=PMHS This page is the site dedicated to the Park Mains High School library and is updated regularly by the Librarian.

  8. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Covid-19 operation. Park Mains High School The log in page looks like this.

  9. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Covid-19 operation. Your Library Ticket Number is your school library number. S2-S6 have all had their number issued to them. S1 currently have an existing or temporary number, which will be updated by the Librarian when working in the school. Ask you teacher for your card number, as they have a list, or contact the librarian by e-mail, given at the end of this presentation. Park Mains High School Your pin code is set as your date of birth as eight digits. e.g. 01/01/1991 is 01011991. You can change this when logged in. If you forget your pin, again contact the librarians.

  10. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Covid-19 operation. Park Mains High School When logged in, you can see what we have on stock and request books. These requests will be worked on the next time a librarian is in the school. So this will be faster than a paper request. For S1 and S2, when your book is ready it will be brought to your English class on your library period. S3 to S5, your books will be passed to your English or Learning Support teacher. S6 will be emailed to your GLOW address and can collect reservations from the library on your study period.

  11. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community Covid-19 operation. Park Mains High School Returned books are placed in the metal book drop box just inside the library entrance, or for S1 and S2 on your library period. Again, these books need to be put to one side for three days before they can be returned to the school stock and be available to be issued to the next pupil looking to read it.

  12. Respect Opportunity Commitment Community E-Books. Park Mains High School You can also use your library card number to borrow e- books and magazines from the Renfrewshire Libraries. For e-books, go to: https://renfrewshire.overdrive.com/ You will need an e-book reader like Adobe Digital Editions, or the suggested reader in the Overdrive system, Libby. (A guide to using Libby is on the school library page.) Libby is built to work on your smart phone. Like the school library, some titles are one off s, only one person at a time can read it. Some can have hundreds of people reading it.
