Overview
 
The University of Buea is  an
Anglo-Saxon  University (English
Speaking) located in the  town of
Buea, capital of the South West
Region in the Republic of
Cameroon.

STRUCTURE AND PRESENTATION
 
The mission of the University of Buea is to
provide opportunities for quality education
through teaching and research in an
environment that is conducive to such
pursuits and in ways that respond to
market forces.
 
The University of Buea is dedicated to the
continuous quest for excellence, the
promotion of moral and human values, and
service to the community. Its teaching and
research programs emphasize relevance,
encourage tolerance and promote creative,
critical and independent thinking.

UB has more than 16,900 undergraduate degrees
awarded, more than 938 masters successfully
defended and above 51 PhDs since 2006.
The University of Buea has a student success rate of
82.4% and more than 647 peer review publications
since 2006.

I  - The Library’s Mission
 
The University of Buea Library’s mission is
to enhance and facilitate achievement of
the University’s objective of teaching,
research and life-long learning by
acquiring, processing and organizing
adequate information resources in print
and electronic form for its users.
 
II - The Organisational Structure of
the Library
 
 
The University of Buea Library is a service
under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in
charge of Research and Cooperation, and
Relation with the Business World. It is
headed by a Director, with 32 staff. The
Library is comprised of five divisions as
follows:
 
I- Division of Administration, Archives
and Museums
 
The Division has three services: the
Administrative, Archive and Museum, and
Printing Press.  It directs the day to day
management of the library and co-
ordinates the activities of the other
divisions and services and liaises with
other Libraries.
 
The Director’s Secretariat
 
II-  Division of Media, Reader and
Serial Services
 
This division is entrusted with the
management of serials, media and systems
services. It ensures the effective
organization of information resources both
in print and electronic form to ease access
by its users.
 
 
III- Division of Technical, Collection
Development and Acquisition
 
The Division ensures proper
processing and organization of all
acquired information resources,
preserves, maintains and updates the
Library’s collection.
 
IV- Division of the Bookshop
      
Not yet operational
 
V-  Division of the Printing Press
The division has not yet taken off
except for the Bindery and
Reprographic Service activities that
have begun
.
