LINC Philosophy: The child at the centre Inclusive Culture: The child has rights rather than needs. All children have potential. Children valued by adults as creative individuals with their own ideas, abilities and unique way of understanding. Parents are partners.
Inclusive Practice: Early Childhood Teachers are partners, nurturers, guides and co-learners, . Early Childhood Teachers are researchers. Education is about asking questions.
Inclusive Pedagogy: Children are communicators. Children supported in thinking and acting for themselves. Children given opportunities to express their experiences, ideas, thoughts and feelings in a variety of languages. Curriculum built around visual and expressive arts.

Programme Structure 630 students per year x 3 years with the option of an extra year Completely Online for 2021 starting in January 6 modules over 2 semesters - Finish in July Online approach to each module Asynchronous online learning: Synchronous online tutorials: 30 minutes weekly tutorial One online group contact session per module Virtual mentoring visit between tutor and student

Eligibility All services with an ECCE/CCSP/TEC contract and with a pre- school room can nominate one staff member for LINC. For the 2021 intake priority will be given to settings that meet the following criteria. 1). No INCO appointed 2). Over 22 ECCE children attending 3). All other settings Candidates must have a Level 5 or higher Major Award in relevant area (DCYA qualifications list) and have basic IT skills and access to a computer/laptop with internet.
How to apply? Application form online at www.lincprogramme.ie Open from 12 October 6 November 2020 NB: Applicants must use a computer/laptop to apply, not a phone/tablet
What do settings need to apply? Setting details (Pobal number and contact info). Candidate details (name; contact info; PPS number; date of birth; qualification; and last educational institute attended). Details of your candidate s relevant qualification at Level 5 or above (educational institute; year started and completed; level; award title). A copy (scan/photo) of your candidate s certificate.
Why engage with LINC? LINC supports curriculum documentation in line with Aistear and S olta, and adheres to guidance by DES. Incorporates use of the Aistear S olta Practice Guide in the studies which supports best practice in preschool. Supports practitioners to engage effectively with parents and to develop new skills for communicating and collaborating with them. Provides guidance on applying for AIM support for children with additional needs in the service.
Why engage with LINC? (2) Learn strategies to support all children to participate in the early years curriculum including behaviour management, language development, and social skills. Extensive learning on doing observations in line with best practice guidelines. Supports students to develop leadership and management skills within the early years' setting. LINC qualification stays with the student and enhances opportunities for employment.
The LINC Qualification Special Purpose Level 6 Award o 60 ECTS credits (i.e. one academic year at higher education) Now recognised as meeting the DCYA Room Leader qualification Can be used to gain entry into Level 7/8 Programmes, depending on the requirements of the relevant institution
Financial Implications? Programme is free (no fees) Students receive 200 towards costs Settings employing an INCO receive 2 extra per ECCE-eligible child in a pre-school room per week in capitation
