Social work Icon
The profession of social work is complex, multifaceted and
demanding. Having a social worker mentor who can truly walk
with you as an intern in balancing the complexity of the
profession is really wonderful. Some social workers truly embody
the values and ethics of the profession in EVERY aspect. From
how they engage with clients, to the compassion and support
they offer to their work team, to how they teach and support
developing social workers.

Rock-Star Rookie
It takes courage and commitment to say ‘yes’ to
supporting a MSW Intern. It is often quite anxiety
producing for those who take on field education for
the first time, not to mention, committing to this
right in the middle of a pandemic! This ‘newbie’
Field Educator rocked it this year.

Running the Marathon
Supporting MSW Interns is a tall task. From planning
meaningful ways to introduce interns to the agency,
providing adequate learning experiences, supporting
weekly supervision, and the ongoing motivation to
encourage students during the difficult moments (both
academic and personal), the task is daunting! The
willingness to do this year after year is quite unique. This
is an amazing longstanding Field Educator.

Wellness Warrior
Social Workers have faced enormous challenges during
these past few years, highlighting the need for
professional and personal self-care to be effective in
the field. Self-care is so important that the NASW
Code of Ethics was amended to include new self-care
language in the purpose and ethical principles. This
Field Educator has modeled and encouraged the
importance of professional and personal wellness and
self-care.

Innovative Advocate
To be an effective Social Worker, it often takes creativity and
innovation. Social Workers continuously facilitate creative
solutions to very difficult problems! This Field Educator has
demonstrated the value of creativity, innovation, or
imagination in their practice and Field Education.
2022 saw the acknowledgement of exceptional Field Educators in the social work field for their dedication, compassion, and innovation. From supportive mentors to wellness advocates, these educators have gone above and beyond in shaping the next generation of social workers. Explore their stories and contributions in this special recognition.
