Organic Compound Extraction Experiment: Separation of 4-Hydroxybenzaldehyde
This experiment focuses on the extraction and purification of 4-Hydroxybenzaldehyde from a mixture containing NaCl. It involves the use of immiscible solvents and separation techniques to isolate the compound based on its solubility properties. The procedure includes transferring the sample to a separatory funnel, shaking with ether and water, and extracting the ethereal layers. By following these steps, the organic compound can be separated effectively.

Procedure: 1)- Transfer an unkn. sample to a separatory funnel ; add (20ml ether & 20 ml of water) 2)- Shake gently for ( 15 20) min until no further pressure is released from the stem funnel. 3)-Leave for 5-10 min. to complete separation of the 2 layers. must be removed . Then separate the 2 layers The stopper 4)- Dry the ethereal layers https://youtu.be/1tmqUVSVPo4
