Pre-Monitoring Activities 10 participants for Cohort One were selected MDE OSE LRE Technical Assistance Provider will be hired for each cohort Data profiles will be provided to each cohort participant oData includes specific information describing the population of students with disabilities served within the jurisdiction of each cohort participant oWill also include a graph demonstrating the continuum of placements currently being used MDE Office of Special Education 4

  5. Pre-Monitoring Activities Cont. Each cohort participant will be asked to prepare a detailed description in response to three specific questions related to the LRE requirements. What system is in place to: oEnsure everyone knows the LRE requirements oDetermine whether districts are implementing the requirements correctly oProvide the appropriate technical assistance for improvement MDE OSE will host virtual meeting with Cohort One MDE Office of Special Education 5

  6. Monitoring Activities Student Record Review Staff Interviews (general and special education providers and administrators) Parent Focus Group (participants will be from each ISD's Parent Advisory Committee) MDE Office of Special Education 6

Logistics All record reviews will be completed electronically in collaboration with the Cohort participant All interviews will be conducted onsite and in any relevant member district as is reasonable, as well as at the ISD and in collaboration with the ISD Director of Special Education MDE Office of Special Education 8

Outcomes of LRE Monitoring Identified student level noncompliance will need to be corrected as soon as possible but in no case greater than one year from the date of notification With support of the MDE OSE and the LRE TA Provider, each cohort participant will be required to develop and implement an improvement plan focusing on the areas identified in the final report oThe plan will be implemented in years 3,4 & 5 MDE Office of Special Education 9
