McGill First Generation Orientation Event

McGill First Generation
Orientation
Brought to you by
Campus Life & Engagement
August 31
st
, 2021
Land Acknowledgment
Although we are located in many different spaces today, McGill is located
on unceded Indigenous lands in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, which was originally
founded by the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation. As settlers, our presence on this
land contributes to the dispossession and ongoing oppression of
Indigenous peoples.
Our goal is to promote learning and promote allyship with local Indigenous
communities, by honouring and respecting the many nations removed
from, as well as those still connected to this land.
Agenda
The
First Generation Student Support
project is an initiative out of the
Office of the Provost, headed by the Associate Provost (Equity & Academic
Policies), Prof. Angela Campbell, in collaboration with Campus Life &
Engagement (CL&E) and many first-generation students.
We aim to support first-generation students throughout their time here at
McGill as well as celebrate their major milestones.
