2. Why should we use the pasive voice? We don t want to say who or what did the action We don t know who did the action The object is the most important part of the sentence

3. STRUCTURE The children ate the cake. ACTIVE SENTENCE SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT (podm t) +(sloveso) +(p edm t) PASSIVE SENTENCE The cake was eaten . (by somebody/children) Deadpool was directed by Tim Miller. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was written by J.K.Rowling. The window is cleaned every week (by my mum).

4. CHILDREN ATE THE CAKE BE VERB + PAST PARTICIPLE 6 steps to make a passive sentence 1. Find the subject, the verb and the object 2. Move the object to become the subject of the new sentence 3. What is the verb tense in the active sentence? (past simple) 4. Conjugate (vy asujte) the verb BE so that it is in the same tense (was) 5. Add the past participle of the main verb (eaten) 6. decide what to do with the subject from the active sentence (children) you don t have to say who ate the cake, but you can add it with te word BY is, are, am, was/were, has/have been, will be .etc. Past participle t et tvar eaten, broken, bit, played, watched .etc. THE CAKE WAS EATEN (BY THE CHILDREN)

5. Practise Someone has stolen my neighbour s car. Your brother will take care of your dog. My daughter eats ice cream.
