WEIS WEEKLY BLAST
CALL TEST

BRAD JOHNSTON

PURPOSE

The blast call is a means to test SPP’s outreach
communication system (xMatters), but also helps
confirm the point of contacts we have for our
entities is up to date.
Currently SPP Operations performs a weekly
blast call test for the Integrated Market every
Tuesday at 0945 CPT.
These test usually last between 5-10 minutes
If it presents no conflicts
,
the WEIS test will be
performed every Tuesday at 1000 CPT
This will be implemented in Parallel Ops
(December)

BLAST CALL

The point of contact will receive a call from the
SPP communication system.
They will be prompted twice:
First prompt will ask them to hear the SPP
message
Second prompt will be a message asking them to
either join the meeting, or end the call
Once they join the call, SPP Operators will
announce themselves, the reason, and end the
call.

XMATTERS

xMatters is our current communication outreach
system that allows operators to communicate
market alerts to WEIS entities in an efficient
manner.
Alerts can be planned and unplanned Market
Holds, or other market related information that
may impact all entities.
xMatters can initiate alerts through e-mail, text
and phone. These test are performed through a
phone call.
If the point of contact has an e-mail, they will
receive a summary of the call.

POINT OF CONTACT

The point of contact list is populated off of the “WEIS POC”
document, specifically the Real Time 24 Hour Primary POC
(Code: RTPC) item.
This document can be found in the RMS Onboarding request
If a point of contact needs to change, please send an updated
“WEIS POC” sheets through the RMS

Supply Adequacy/EI Constraint Scenario
Scheduled 11/12/2020
Details are posted here:
https://spp.org/spp-documents-
filings/?id=235151

EI constraint impacting WRTBM prices

SA/EI CONSTRAINT SCENARIO
PREVIEW

MPs ensure Supply Adequacy is short between 0800-1400 of
11/12/2020
Tips: Remove tags, add exports, reduce resource and OR
availability, limits, etc.
SPP will confirm EI constraints are activated and impacting
prices appropriately
Prior to 1400,
MPs firm up supply for 1400-1700
 such that their
supply is reported as adequate
This can be done ahead of time as necessary.
SPP will confirm that BAs are whole and EI constraints are no
longer activated*

*SPP may make manual adjustments to ensure the scenario is successful
