  1. Youth Search the Scriptures Lesson 45

  2. Overview Memory Verse And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt (Exodus 12:4) Text Exodus 14:1-31; 15:1-27

Today s teaching: Key highlights from previous lesson Christian youths have a responsibility to warn unrepentant sinners of the consequences of their actions and the need for repentance. The lamb without blemish used for the Passover symbolizes Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world in challenging situations. Review of the decision of Egyptians to pursue Israel after releasing them and God's profound intervention Christian youths should acknowledge God's capacity to intervene and overcome seemingly insurmountable circumstances to strengthen their perseverance in faith. They that trust in the LORD shall be as Mount Zion which cannot be removed but abideth forever Psalm 125:1.

  4. 1 Aspects to consider PHARAOH S DECISION TO PURSUE THE ISRAELITES (Exodus 14:1-9; 15:9; Job 9:4; Isaiah 14:12-17; Proverbs 29: 1, Joshua 24:6) Christian youths should avoid any situation that will make them fight against God and His people. Christian youths should understand that God is always one step ahead and has a plan in place for His people, providing a foundation for trust and reliance on His guidance. Christian youths should have the mindset of continuing the right path even when faced with challenges, trusting in God's protection and plan. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee: Isaiah 26: 3.

  5. Aspects to consider 2 PRACTICAL DELIVERANCE OF GOD S OWN PEOPLE (Exodus 14:10-31; 2 Chronicles 20:20; Hebrews 3:12; 1 Corinthians 10: 10) Christian youths should avoid letting fear and doubt dictate their actions. They should be wary of the wrong use of their tongues when faced with problems. Christian youths must obey God's commands even when they seem senseless or foolish. Just take the step of faith. Christian youths should know that God has the power to break natural barriers to favor His children. They should realize that the closeness of the enemy does not guarantee their victory; it may hasten the enemy's defeat. The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear Him; He also will hear their cry and save them. The LORD preserveth all them love Him, But all the wicked will He destroy. Psalms 145: 18-20.

  6. Aspects to consider 3 PRAISING GOD FOR DELIVERANCE AND PROMISED HEALTH (Exodus 15:1-21; Psalms 29:2; 96:9; 136:13-15; 1 Chronicles 16:29; Lamentations 3:22; Exodus 15:22-27; Philippians 2:14, Philippians 4:19; 2 Peter 1:6; James 5:10,11; Hebrews 10:36; 6:12) God exhibited great power by destroying the hosts of Egypt and their chariots. Christian youths should offer songs that glorify and exalt God, making Him the central focus. Christian youths should recognize that songs should emphasize God's attributes over men's gifts. Christian youths must acknowledge God's sovereignty and power in all circumstances, giving Him due reverence in worship. In all, we must be careful of murmurings every time things do not go our way, just like the Israelites. The LORD is my strength and song, and He is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him. Exodus 15:2.

  7. Questions What do we learn from the reaction of Pharaoh s refusal to let the Israelites go and God s ability in seemingly impossible situations? What were Pharaoh s motives for pursuing Israel and what can you learn from them? What can we learn as Christian youths on the hardening of Pharaoh s heart and crossing God s red line? What are the pitfalls to avoid as Christian youths when faced with seeming possible challenge? What can we learn from God s command to Israel to move forward? What do we discover from the songs of Moses, Miriam and the children of Israel?
