  1. Republic of Lebanon Ministry of Public Health Epidemiological Surveillance Program 2019-nCoV (COVID-19): Case Definitions Feb 2020

  2. Suspected Case - A A. Patient with severe acute respiratory infection (fever, cough), Requiring admission to hospital AND with no other etiology that fully explains the clinical presentation AND at least one of the following exposures in the 14 days prior to symptom onset: History of travel to or residence in country with community transmission, or Patient is a health care worker who has been working in an environment where severe acute respiratory infections of unknown etiology are being cared for

  3. Acute Respiratory Infection Requiring Hospital Admission Yes No Healthcare worker in institution caring for respiratory infection of unknown etiology Travel to China including visit to animal market Working / attending healthcare facility that reported confirmed case Close contact with confirmed case Travel to country with community transmission Or Or Or Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Suspected case of 2019-nCoV (COVID-19)

  4. Suspected Case - B B. Or patient with any acute respiratory illness AND at least one of the following exposure in the 14 days prior to illness onset: Close contact with a confirmed or probable case of 2019-nCoV, or Visiting or working in country with community transmission, or Worked or attended a health care facility where patients with hospital associated 2019-nCov infections have been reported

  5. Probable Case A suspect case for whom Testing for 2019- nCoV is inconclusive Or for whom testing was positive on pan- coronavirus assay

  6. Confirmed Case A person with laboratory confirmation of 2019-nCoV infection, irrespective of clinical signs and symptoms. Confirmatory tests include: Positive serology in paired serum samples, Specific PCR Or genome sequencing

  7. Case # 1 Maya is an architecture. She went to Wuhan for 1 month. In Wuhan, she visited a lot of places including animal markets. She came back to Lebanon on the 20th Jan 2020. ON the 25th Jan 2020, she presented with fever and cough. She was treated at home.

  8. Case # 2 Ziad works in trade. He went to Shanghai for 1 month. He visited museums. He did not visit any animal market. He came back to Lebanon on the 10th Jan 2020. ON the 18th Jan 2020, he presented fever and cough. He was admitted to hospital for treatment

  9. Case # 3 Zouhair works in trade He went to Guangdong for 2 months. He was admitted to local Chinese hospitals for gastroenteritis. He came back to Lebanon on the 12th Jan 2020. On the 20th Jan 2020, he presented with fever and cough. He was admitted to hospital.

  10. Case # 4 Mao, 12 years old child, lives in Lebanon. He visited his family in Beijing during winter Holidays. He came back to Lebanon on the 5th Jan 2020. On the 20th Jan 2020, he reported fever and cough. He is treated as outpatient.
