  5. LydiaThyatira and Philippi Lydia in the Bible was originally from Thyatira but was living in Philippi when she met Paul on his second missionary journey. She was a seller of purple cloth, which Thyatira was famous for, being a center of indigo trade. Lydia apparently had moved to Philippi to ply her trade in that city. She and her family were baptized. After Paul and Silas were released from prison she put them up at her house. I am a Child of God #2-3 Justus--Mecadonia Paul taught at his house and he worshipped God. Him and his household joined the church. I Know My Father Lives #5 Apollos Achaia, Ephesus, Corinth He was an Alexandrian Jew and contemporary of the Apostle Paul who was know for his eloquence and scriptural mastery. Aquila and Priscilla in Ephesus taught him a more fuller knowledge about the ministry of the Savior. He journeyed to the Grecian province of Achaia with a recommendation from the Church leaders at Ephesus. He preach in Corinth the gospel message. Church members admired Apollos for his eloquence in proclaiming and upholding gospel truths, but he became the unwitting cause of a degree of dispute among some of them. The Church of Jesus Christ #77 Crispus--Corinth He was the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. Faith #96-97 Prison Guard Macedonia He was asleep when Paul and Silas were in prison. Paul and Silas were singing and there was an earthquake. The doors fell open. Waking up the guard was scared that he might be killed because the prisoners had fled. He thought he would have to kill himself, but Paul and Silas told him Do thyself no harm: for we are all here. He was touched by the spirit. Paul taught him about Jesus Christ and he and his household (family) were baptized. Come Follow Me #116 (Hymn Book) Aquila and Priscilla Rome and Corinth He was a Jew, native of Pontus, settled in Rome as a tentmaker, married to Priscilla or Prisca They were expelled from Rome by decree of Claudius, and settled in Corinth where Paul met them, and then moved to Ephesus. At Ephesus Aquila and Priscilla instructed Apollos in the faith, and their house seems to have been a center of Church activity. From references it appears that they returned to Rome, but later on we find them again at Ephesus. Stand For the Right #159

  8. For Singing Time Idea: Draw a map on the board. Place Paul and Silas in the sea. Have the children pick out popsicle sticks with names on them. Or you can put the pictures up on board backwards and have them pick them. Put their picture on the map of where they were when they were preached by Paul and Silas. Read about the character then sing the song. (The map is a generic map) You can also use the characters on a popsicle stick for a lesson Lydia Paul and Silas
