Slide Note

Reflect on the earlier sessions on today's agenda and the discussions about the future of local government , of the inevitability of change and your role within that.

Although it is important to acknowledge that leading teams, departments and organisations through change can be very difficult, the difference that you can make by communicating a shared vision and working collaboratively, can help you to achieve great results.

My focus is people. It is how we engage with individuals and teams to make things happen in the best way focusing on the best of each person. I will touch on some theories and supporting research but the focus of my session this afternoon is going to be on real world responses to the challenge of leading our teams and our organisation through change. After a career in the commercial world, I now work as a chartered occ psych and business coach working with senior leaders and teams to support them to be the best they can be.

Today I am planning to share with you practical tools and techniques that I have gathered over the years and use to great effect with my clients. Where possible I am going to ask you to get involved in understanding and exploring how these tools can be used. Some of them may not appeal to you or may take you slightly out of your comfort zone. I would encourage you to throw yourself in and have a go. After all you will be asking your teams to do things differently and to respond positively to change as your strategic plans are implements. Here is an opportunity to have a possible perspective on how some of the requests you are about to make to your teams may make them feel.
