Kansas City University Financial Aid Accept Day Federal financial aid is intended to help the student with educational expenses while enrolled at KCU. It cannot replace your income or provide funds for the expenses of other family members. Eligibility begins when you are enrolled. Financial aid cannot cover moving expenses. A major source of aid is federal student loans but borrowing has limitations. KCU students are considered independent students on the FAFSA and are not required to provide parent information

Types of KCU Financial Aid Scholarships KCU Admissions Scholarships Awarded on acceptance to KCU KCU Continuing Students Scholarships from the Physicians Hall of Sponsors - available for 2nd, 3rdand 4thyear students. Applications open each Spring; awards are applied to next academic year s tuition costs. Scholarships are generally $500 - $3,000. Geographical Scholarships We will contact eligible students directly for these scholarships.
Types of KCU Financial Aid Federal Direct Loans for 2022-2023 Federal Direct Unsubsidized Current Interest Rate and loan origination fee: 5.28% with 1.057% fee Federal Direct Grad PLUS Current Interest Rate with loan origination fee: 6.28% with 4.228% fee Credit Check Required. No annual loan limit; but cannot exceed total Cost of Attendance less other aid. Repayment begins 6 months after graduation, withdrawal, or dropping below half-time status. Both loans begin interest accrual after loans are disbursed to students (with the exception of the current federal student loan interest freeze!).
Types of Financial Aid Service Repay/Loan Repayment Kansas Osteopathic - Designed to encourage primary care physicians to establish practices in rural areas of Kansas. Recipients receive $15,000/year for up to four years of study at nationally accredited osteopathic schools. Preference goes to 1st year students. Recipients return one year of practice for each year of assistance. Applicants must complete a program application and the designated financial aid application. Priority Deadline: May 1. Missouri PRIMO - Loan amounts vary from $5,000 to $20,000. Student repay their Primo loans by working as a primary care provider in an area of defined need. Military Scholarships - Army, Navy and Air Force Service repayment. National Health Service Corps Information can be found on the NHSC website Indian Health Service - Information can be found on the IHS website
Types of Financial Aid Veteran Educational Benefits KCU is approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) for the certification of students eligible to receive VA educational benefits. To determine eligibility, contact the DVA and apply for education benefits (DVA Form 22-190) or request to change program or place training (DVA Form 22-1995) if you have previously used your benefits at another institution. Once you re notified by the DVA of your eligibility to receive educational benefits, notify the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible. Students receiving 100% of Chapter 33 VA benefits will be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon program.
Applying for Federal Aid at KCU FAFSA Complete your FAFSA at StudentAid.gov. You can apply after October 1 for the upcoming award year. Aid awarded with the 2022-2023 FAFSA will cover charges and living expenses for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023. To complete the FAFSA you will need to have a FSA ID. You can apply for a FSA ID at StudentAid.gov by choosing Create Account . You must list KCU as a Selected School on your FAFSA KCU s school code for FAFSA: G02474
After youve submitted your FAFSA Log in to Workday and regularly check your inbox and notifications for action items to complete. You ll receive a Workday notice towards the end of April once your aid offer is ready to view in the Workday Finances app! You can accept the Unsubsidized Loan in Workday for fall and spring. **Unsub Loan has lower interest rate and fees than the Grad PLUS, always accept the full Unsub Loan before any of the Grad PLUS! If you need additional aid after the Unsub Loan, you can t accept the Grad PLUS Loan in Workday. You ll accept the Grad PLUS Loan by submitting a Grad PLUS Loan Application at StudentAid.gov for the desired amount for the year.
Final Steps for Federal Aid If you are a first time Federal Direct Student Loan borrower at KCU, you are required (after accepting the loans) to complete: Loan Entrance Counseling Available at StudentAid.gov under the Complete Aid Process tab. Master Promissory Notes (MPN) If using both federal loans, an MPN for Graduate/Professional Students will be needed for both the Unsubsidized and Grad PLUS Loans. Available at StudentAid.gov under the Complete Aid Process tab.
Tuition 2022-2023 KCU has consistently worked to drive tuition below the nation average for private COM programs. It has been, and continues to be, a priority for the University to minimize the debt load that students have to bear as a result of attending medical school. The goal of KCU is to provide you with an exceptional educational experience, while keeping the cost manageable. COM 2022-2023 Tuition: $25,817 per term/ $51,634 for year Required Fees: Technology Fee = $75 per term/$150 for year Student Activity Fee = $35 per term/$70 for year
Additional Important Information Complete or Renew your FAFSA each school year. KCU school code is G02474 Reminders for outstanding action items in Workday will be sent regularly until item is resolved. The KCU Financial Aid Office will send out financial aid offers starting late April. Aid is usually disbursed the week before classes start each semester. Refunds of aid accepted for living expenses are usually available during the 2ndor 3rdweek of classes. Students are billed twice a year by the Finance Office. Remember to borrow only what you need to keep your overall debt low. Check StudentAid.gov to review your current federal student loan balances.
Student Account Information Your admissions deposits paid will be applied to your fall semester charges, so your living expense refund may be larger this fall then it will be in the spring. Enter your Direct Deposit information through Workday to ensure you receive your refund as soon as possible. Contact the Finance Office at studentaccounts@kcumb.edu with any questions related to billing and payments. Payments can be made via KCU s payment portal in Workday or mailed to the Finance Office.
