In John 1:6-8, 19-28, we learn about John the Baptist, who was sent by God to prepare the way for the coming of the Lord. He humbly acknowledges that he is not the light but only a messenger. When questioned by the Jewish authorities, he clarifies that he is not the Messiah, Elijah, or the Prophet, but simply a voice in the desert calling for the people to make a straight path for the Lord. John baptizes with water, knowing that someone greater than him is coming. This passage emphasizes the importance of humility and preparing our hearts for the arrival of Jesus.
