Insights into Joint Market Monitoring Initiative in 2020
Joint Market Monitoring Initiative (JMMI) in 2020 involved key components like price, availability, payment method, currency, stock duration, restocking time, and barriers. The initiative, a collaboration of REACH, Shelter, and WASH clusters, targeted urban locations every 3 months based on market routes and partner presence. Issues and challenges included the need for more training/support for partners, limitations in vendor interviews due to COVID-19, and difficulties in standardizing items due to varying quality/brands in the market.

Issues & Challenges Issues & Challenges Partners need more trainings/support. In person interviews with vendors not possible due to COVID-19. This limited the capacity of partners to establish relationship with vendors. Some vendors were not available for clarifications during follow up calls. Difficult to standardize the items due to varying quality/brands in the market. Markets selected are mostly main markets and this may not be representative of rural areas.
