Problem statement Define the exact PROBLEM that you intend to solve. [ Titan is a wristwatch manufacturer that uses various surface enhancement techniques, including mechanical finishes such as polishing, shot blast, satin, and laser marking, as well as coating finishes such as PVD, electroplating, anodization, and chemical etching to improve the appearance, durability, and functionality of its watches. However, Titan is seeking new or alternative surface enhancement technologies that can provide exotic colors and finishes to the case center of their watches. The current materials used in manufacturing the wristwatches are brass, SS-304, SS-316, aluminium, titanium, gold, silver, ceramic, Zamak alloy 3 and 5, plastic (ABS), and polycarbonate. However, brass and SS materials contribute the majority of the volume, around 85% and 5%, respectively. Mechanical finishing and coating finishes are achieved with two different technologies, but both contribute to enhancing the surface finish of the case center. In addition to its current range of products, Titan is seeking new or alternative surface enhancement technologies that can provide exotic colors and finishes to cater to the demands of new age customers. Titan is known for delivering high-quality products, so it is imperative that any new surface finishing techniques possess improved durability, ease of operation, scalability, eco-friendliness, and aesthetic appeal. Titan's expectations for new or alternative surface enhancement technologies are as follows: A. Solutions for mechanical surface finishing for watchcases in brass and stainless steel materials to achieve vibrant and durable finishes that excite customers, while also optimizing efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. B. Multiple surface texturing solutions for watchcases in brass and stainless steel materials, utilizing cutting-edge technology and processes to achieve functional and aesthetic improvements while optimizing efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. C. A new or alternative technologies that provides exotic colors for wristwatches. ]
Solution Explain, in brief, how you intend to SOLVE the problem at hand. Please include the following: What is the proposed surface enhancement process, is this proposed process is used in any other manufacture or New Process / Technologies and how does it improve the appearance, durability, and functionality of the watch's external surfaces? How does the proposed solution meet Titan's requirements for appearance, durability, functionality, and cost, and what are the key factors that make it a better solution than existing processes? What are the potential risks and challenges associated with implementing the proposed solution, and how do you propose to mitigate them? Is the solution compatible with the materials and design of Titan's watches, and does it compromise the watch's structural integrity? How innovative and unique is the proposed surface enhancement process, and how does it set Titan's wristwatches apart from competitors in the market? What impact metrics do you propose to use to analyse the effect of the proposed solution, and how will you measure them? How scalable is the proposed solution, and can it be easily integrated into Titan's existing manufacturing processes without disrupting the production line?
