Heading here Scan the section on first aid kits and then answer the questions on the next slide First aid kits First aid representatives are provided with adequately equipped first aid response kits with necessary items for the nature of the hazards involved. Only first aid supplies specified by risk assessment or the regulations will be kept. No creams (except burns cream), lotions or drugs will be kept in these bags, including paracetamol. First aid representatives must ensure that their kits are regularly checked to establish if the items are sufficient to meet requirements (use by dates, state of packaging, items used) and replenished when necessary. All out of date first aid supplies must be disposed of. The first aid kit is located on the window sill in the designated canteen area. First aid supplies are ordered and available from the health and safety team. If further items are required, the health and safety department must be contacted in order for them to provide the necessary items. Portable kits will also be provided where access to facilities may be restricted. First aid kits shall contain a sufficient quantity of first aid items determined by the health and safety team and the completed risk assessment. First aid kits are available for trips from the health and safety team. The kit needs to be ordered in advance by the designated first aider and returned to the health and safety team ASAP. literacytrust.org.uk 5
