HUTSON SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE UPDATES
Hutson School of Agriculture has been making significant advancements under the leadership of Dr. Brian Parr and Dr. Shea Porr. The school hosts various events like high school visits, state and national FFA conventions, NFMS, TN FFA Convention, and more, attracting over 2,000 high school students annually. With enrollment exceeding 1,300 students for Fall 2023, the school continues to focus on recruitment efforts. Additionally, they offer graduate programs with over 200 students enrolled, including options for Masters, Specialist, and Doctorate degrees. The school has also established new partnerships within the industry for agriculture science research and education, collaborated with organizations like Bayer, BASF, and Stine. Furthermore, recent developments include acquiring new property, introducing a focus on poultry and meat science, launching a Rodeo Team, appointing a new Department Head, Dr. Laura Ken Hoffman, equipped with state-of-the-art radiology facilities, and innovative educational approaches. The Pre-Vet/Vet Tech program witnessed a large enrollment of 434 students, and the Breathitt Veterinary Center features the only Biological Safety Level 3 lab space dedicated to veterinary diagnostics in Kentucky.
