12.3 per 100,000 Autosomal dominant CAG repeat extension mutation to the Huntingtin gene - >35 CAG repeats gives 100% disease penetrance Progressive motor abnormalities coordination, balance, chorea, dystonia, dysphagia Progressive cognitive decline and dementia Problematic neuropsychiatric symptoms depression, anxiety, OCD, irritability, affective dysregulation, psychosis Huntington s disease
Wave SNP3 Antisense oligonucleotide technology single strand complimentary to mRNA of mutant gene to modify expression Opportunities to be sub-investigator on a potentially transformative trial Collaborate with neurology, neuroanaesthetists and research nurses.
Biomarker trials - monitoring and assessment of the clinical course of HD and factors associated with progression. Training offered: UHDRS motor assessment PBA-S psychiatric assessment Columbia Suicide rating scale.
