  1. Report of the 25thRACE Meeting The 25thRegulation and Certification Experts meeting (RACE) was held on 25thJanuary 2021 via video conference. The meeting were attended by the automotive industry representatives from Asian Countries, i.e. Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

  2. 1. ASEAN MRA 1) AAF shared the latest situation of ASEAN MRA and contents of non-binding trial run plan for future ASEAN MRA implementation. 2) The meeting acknowledged the latest situation of ASEAN MRA and the importance of non-biding trial run to identify possible difficulties on actual practice upon implementation of ASEAN MRA. 3) The industry has encouraged all ASEAN Governments to join for non-binding trial run on ASEAN MRA.

  3. 2. WP29 Activities in Asian Region 1) Each automotive association reported the latest regulatory movements and issues on exhaust emission, safety regulations, and new technologies which are related to UNRs/WP29 activity. 2) In preparation to the accession to 1958/1998 Agreement and implementation of UNRs/GTRs, the contributions from related government agency and automotive industry are vital. 3) Some ASEAN countries which have not acceded 1958 Agreement are considering signing the ASEAN MRA before acceding to WP29. 4) The Meeting encouraged Asian economies to continue discussion and exchange information on activities related to safety, emission, electric vehicles issue and new technology.

  4. 3. Update EV-related regulations in Asian Region 1) Each automotive industry association reported the latest EV regulation movements and their government policies. 2) The meeting acknowledged that the automotive industry government collaboration is essential to participate in the formulation of EV policies, and proposes the government to provide relevant information at Public-Private Joint forum, and to encourage harmonization of UN Regulations for EV through WP29.
