Greenville Park Annual Meeting July 27, 2023
Today we are Present. Our school is Resilient as we Ready ourselves to be Grateful, Compassionate learners, and Strive to be restorative.
School Wide Plan Greenville Park Leadership Academy receives Title I, Part A funds. As a Title I School, we develop a School Wide Plan which includes school goals, activities, and a budget. The School Wide Plan serves as our guide for improving student achievement. The plan is based on numerous sources of data and is written by a variety of stakeholders.
Goals Our overall school goals include: increasing student achievement for all students as measured by the LEAP assessment and district beginning and end of year assessments in ELA, math, science, and social studies; decreasing the percentage of students who are chronically absent; decreasing the percentage of students who receive 1 or more out of school suspensions; and increase the number of students who feel valued as part of our school community.

ELA Curriculum Greenville Park uses the state of Louisiana curriculum. The Guidebooks have incorporated a grammar section, which will be fully implemented this year. We also have implementation of the Writing Revolution. We are hoping this new additions to our curriculum will have an impact on our ELA students and an improvement of the their scores. Most of our students are performing below grade level. We will continue to have interventions for our lowest students. All of our students will continue the iReady Reading Intervention for 30 minutes per day. We saw tremendous growth in our students last year, and we want that trend to continue.
Math Curriculum Our math curriculum is shifting to Eureka . This new concept is much like Eureka with more hands on time for the students to be engaged in the learning process. Our 5th grade math saw the most improvement last school year with the incorporation of intervention stations. GPLA will also use the computer enhanced intervention, Zearn. The difference this year will be the students must complete 3 on grade level lessons per week. Research has shown that our Louisiana students improved 1 to 1.5 grade levels when the 3 lessons have been completed. This will be incorporated into our already 90 minute blocks.
Science Curriculums Students in grades 4 and 5 will use Science PhD Curriculum. Students in Grades 6-8 will use OpenSciEd Curriculum. Students in the STAR academy will use TCI Curriculum. All of these have embedded experiments for the students to demonstrate their knowledge with inquiry and hands on activities.
Social Studies Curriculum The Louisiana Department of Education has changed the standards of the social studies curriculum for grades k-12. 4th Grade -Ancient History (Pre Civilization through Roman Empire) 5th Grade -Roman Empire through Early Exploration 6th Grade -United States Exploration through the French and Indian War 7th Grade -French and Indian War through Industrialization 8th Grade -Reconstruction through Modern Times
STAR Academy S.T.A.R. Academy was implemented during the 2022-2023 school year. It is a 3- year grant endorsed by Governor John Bel Edwards. The program is designed to help our students who have achieved Approaching Basic, have great attendance, and low disciplinary records. The program is to help bridge the gap between Approaching Basic and Mastery. The program is designed around real-world applications in all core content areas (Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies). Our students engage in various activities with hands-on experiences.
