GBEP is committed to engaging youth in bioenergy activities through capacity building initiatives, dedicated webpages, and the GBEP Youth Award. Collaborating with YUNGA, GBEP developed educational materials like the Bioenergy Supplement for youth, encouraging behavior change towards sustainable energy production and use. The Supplement offers tailored curriculum on bioenergy, including activities like investigating daily energy needs and visiting energy plants.

Recognising the important work of youth GBEP is committed to improving the involvement of youth in all its activities Involving youth (including school and university students, and young entrepreneurs) in relevant capacity building initiatives Recognizing the important research and work of youth in the field of bioenergy through a dedicated webpage and the GBEP Youth Award
Education in bioenergy Collaboration with YUNGA GBEP collaborates with the Youth and United Nations Global Alliance (YUNGA) to develop educational materials for youth 2021 Launch of the Bioenergy Supplement developed by GBEP as a contribution to the YUNGA Energy Challenge Badge
Education in bioenergy Bioenergy Supplement FOR WHOM? As part of the Energy Challenge Badge, youth can now learn specifically about bioenergy: how we produce and use it, and how we can make sure it is sustainable. The Supplement can be used to create a tailored curriculum on energy and bioenergy. The Badge is suitable for ages 5-16.
Education in bioenergy Bioenergy Supplement WHY? The aim of the Challenge Badges is to enact behaviour change. The Supplement includes a TAKE ACTION section with suggestions on what people at every level (both policy makers and young people) can do to make changes to the way we produce and use energy.
Education in bioenergy Bioenergy Supplement HOW? To complete the badge, youth must complete dedicated activities that aim to get them thinking and acting on subjects related to bioenergy, e.g.: My daily energy needs investigating the things you do each day that require energy Where in the world investigating the biomass sources in your country Field visit visit to a local energy plant
GBEP Youth Award Launched in 2020/2021, the GBEP Youth Award recognises the most remarkable and outstanding research work in the field of bioenergy carried out by university students. In conjunction with the Bioenergy Weeks, it focuses on one region of the world: 2021 in Africa, 2022 in Latin America Each year there will be a call for papers and submission of a poster summarizing the research The winner is selected by an impartial panel of experts, with one representative from each region
