  3. MON ARBRE GNALOGIQUE (MY FAMILY TREE) PROJECT: Draw your family tree using the family vocabulary learnt. Put the name of the family members beneath it. Vocabulary: Mon = my (for masculine words)- ex: mon p re Ma = my (for feminine words) ex: ma m re Arbre = tree G n alogique = genealogical (of generations)

  4. GUESS WHO IS WHO? Say family member name in French 1. Who is the father of your father 2. Who is the sister of your mom 3. Who is the son of your uncle 4. Who is the brother of your father 5. Who is the daughter of your aunt

MA FAMILLE (MY FAMILY) On the same model as follows, write down the names of your family members: Mon grand-p re s appelle______________ (My grand father s name is: _______________ Ma grand-m re s appelle__________________ (My grand-mother s name is: _______________ Give the name of your father, mother, uncle, aunt, brothers, sisters, cousins.

  6. MA FAMILLE (MY FAMILY) You meet a friend and want to ask him/her the name of his/her family members. Write down the questions using the model below: Comment s appelle ton __________ (grand-father) ? (What is the name of your__________grandfather?) Comment s appelle ta __________ (grand-father) ? (What is the name of your__________grandmother?) Do the same question to ask the name of his/her father, mother, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, and cousins.

  7. INTERACTIVE PRACTICE Using your notes and family tree, practice asking a partner the names of the different members of his/her family. Your partner needs to give you the answer. Example: Question: Comment ton grand-p re s appelle ? Answer: Mon grand-p re s appelle Marc Dupont.

  13. GUIDED PRACTICE Write sentences using the structure J ai + un+ nom = I have+ a + noun J ai + une + nom = I have+ the + noun Remember, in order to speak in French, we need to conjugate. We have learnt ETRE (to be) to introduce ourselves. J ai is a conjugated form of verb AVOIR = to HAVE. (j ai, tu as, il a, nous avons, vous avez, ils ont) Ex: J ai une poup e (I have a doll) J ai un l phant (I have an elephant)
