INTRODUCTION: OLIVIA BRADY Played indoor and beach volleyball for Lincoln High School Played on the inaugural beach team at Lincoln High School Played indoor and beach volleyball at St. Johns River State College Currently attend Florida State University and play on the FSU Club Beach team. BEACH VOLLEYBALL EXPECTATIONS Complete tryout registration form on FSUSathletics.com Tryouts will be held the week of March 2 -March 6 5:30 -7:30 at the FSU Beach Courts The tryouts will be competitive. Not all who try out will earn a spot on the team. The team will be announced Friday night, March 6. I encourage those who do not make the team to continue to practice and try out again next year.

  5. BEACH VOLLEYBALL PLAYER EXPECTATIONS For those who earn a spot on the roster . . . . Practices are mandatory unless an approved absence by coach Players should be warmed up and ready to practice at stated time Players should give maximum effort during each drill Players should encourage your teammates (no negativity) This is a high school varsity volleyball sport. Players will be competing with each other for playing time.

  6. BEACH VOLLEYBALL PARENT EXPECTATIONS Coaches will assign players based on what we feel will give the team the best chance to succeed. Please respect these decisions. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me to discuss. I will not discuss player assignments on the day of the match. There will be no coaching from the bleachers . It is against the rules. The coaches are allowed to instruct during timeouts. Cheering on the team is allowed, and encouraged! To afford the equipment that we hope to provide, we will ask for fundraising targets. The estimate for this expense will be $100, but could be more depending on the needs of the program

  7. BEACH VOLLEYBALL ESTIMATED EXPENSES (per player)

  8. RULES, UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT Matches: Best of 3, sets of 21 points, switch sides every 7 points, no open hand receive, no open hand tips, sets must be clean. Recommended material: Windbreakers, athletic visor, water bottle, tank tops, sunglasses, backpacks Balls, courts, training equipment, and more will be supplied

  9. DUAL FORMAT & ROSTERS Ranking teams: Each coach will rank and partner players. Players can only move ONE up or ONE down after each match. Dual format: Round 1: Exhibition matches Round 2: 4 vs. 4 and 5 vs. 5. Round 3: 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, and 3 vs. 3. For a team to win the dual, they must win 3 out of the 5 matches.

  10. COACHING AND OFFICIATING Each school will provide a minimum of 2 players to officiate each match. Timeouts: Players competing are the only ones who can call a timeout. Each team gets 1 timeout per set There is a technical timeout when the score sums to 21.
