Fife Council gathered responses from individuals, short-term let hosts/agents, and others to shape the Short-term Let Licensing Scheme. The consultation revealed preferences for licensing terms, inspections, additional conditions, and temporary licensing. Applicants must provide specific documents for the license application. Overall, a variety of views were considered to shape the Fife Short-term Let Scheme effectively.

FIFE COUNCIL Short-term Let Licensing Consultation Responses June 2022
Reason for the Consultation Fife Council wished to collate the views of people who were interested in helping shape the Short-term Let Licensing Scheme. This was introduced under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 (Licensing of Short-term Lets) Order 2021, which came into force on 1 March 2022. Fife Council is required to have a scheme in place by 1 October 2022.

Responses for a 3-year licence 55% for Secondary Letting 41% for Home Letting 49% for Home Sharing 45% for Home Letting & Sharing
Responses for Inspections to Premises 57% would like inspections to premises o97% for Secondary Letting o89% for Home Letting o65% for Home Sharing o78% for Home Letting & Sharing
Responses for Additional Licence Conditions 70% would like to see additional conditions o66% for anti-social behaviour o64% for noise and nuisance o60% for unlawful activity o60% for overcrowding o50% for litter in common areas
Responses for Temporary Licensing 42% would like temporary licensing ofor major sporting events ofor major international events ofor trial of Short-term Letting
